Even Rappers Battle Depression

Over the years the Canadian Hip Hop scene, in part thanks to the Government and regulations supporting Canadian talent in local stores and radio, has found and helped the world discover a number of outstanding artists.  D-Sisive is one of them.

Above is one of his recent videos.
Here is an article he recently wrote about his own battle with depression, brought on by the untimely passing of his mother in 1997 and his father years later after a battle with alcoholism. While there is a common misunderstanding in the world that artists and eccentric personalities are the only ones to get “depressed”, the reality is very different. Depression can affect anyone and does in fact affect many who – unlike this artist – don’t face it and talk about it.
According to Harvard Health Review:

According to some estimates, more than 50% of depressed patients who visit general practitioners complain only of physical symptoms, and in most cases the symptoms include pain. Some studies suggest that if physicians tested all pain patients for depression, they might discover 60% of currently undetected depression.
