Allevio Pausing In-Clinic Procedures To Prepare For "The New Normal": A Letter From Our CEO

Friends,

As of this afternoon, Allevio is pausing in-clinic procedures and visits. The amount of time we pause our regular in-clinic pain management will depend on a few things, including how the COVID-19 situation evolves, how our regulators and the government ask us to respond, and how we can better prepare our space and our staff for what is going to be “the new normal”.

I want you to know that this decision was as obvious as it was challenging. I know many of our patients will be struggling with paused clinic access in the short term, but I also realize that a huge part of Allevio’s care relies on trust. You trust us to do the right thing. The COVID-19 pandemic came to us all very slowly, and then all so suddenly. Allevio needs its staff and clinic to be better prepared to see patients in a way that protects everyone as best we can.

Our team remains available to serve you online, we are working on setting up a virtual “on-call” service as well, and hope to be back in the clinic very soon.

How Allevio Can Help During This Time:

Allevio Pain Management is offering pain clinic consultations and follow up appointments virtually. You can still get referred into the clinic as usual, ask for any of our usual services not requiring personal contact, and we will be able to put you on our waiting list for the next available appointment.

Allevio will have our Nurse Practitioner, a few of our nurses, and some if not all of our physicians “on call” to help with urgent matters however we can. We may not be able to see you in clinic, but we are here to help. We are getting an on-call number organized in the next day.

Please remember that while you’re in pain, these few weeks are critical for our emergency rooms, urgent care and primary care doctors. However, if you need help and we aren’t available or can’t help, please call Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 (TTY: 1-866-797-0007) and please find them online

As we quickly expand our virtual clinic services, and all learn what “the new normal” will be for the months ahead, we will share updates with you. Please let us know if you’d like the updates, and please be in touch with us anytime by email: info@allevioclinic.com

If you feel I can help in any way, please email the info@allevioclinic.com address. Key members of the team and I are all checking it very frequently.

Yours in service,

Ross Hendin
